Frequently asked questions

We’ve answered some commonly asked questions about Business Networking Advantage Australia (BNAA) – let us know if we’ve missed one!

  • What is BNAA?

Business Networking Advantage Australia (BNAA) is a collaborative group of like-minded business professionals who use a unique system to grow referrals and business through word-of-mouth marketing.

  • Do I need to be invited to attend a meeting?

No invite necessary. If you’re a business owner or professional looking to grow, you’re welcome to register for a meeting that suits your schedule.

  • Is there a limit on who can join?

To keep referral quality high, most groups only accept one member per profession or category. But if your spot is already filled in one group, we’ll help you find another.

  • How do referrals work?

Members are encouraged to refer people they genuinely trust, through a proven, structured system that is easy to use. Over time, as members get to know your business, you’ll receive warm, qualified referrals and opportunities.

  • What happens at a typical BNAA meeting?

Meetings follow a clear structure: member introductions, speaker spotlights, shared referrals and time to connect. It’s efficient, friendly and focused on real outcomes.

  • What kinds of businesses join BNAA?

Every industry from tradies and creatives to finance, health and retail. Sole traders, small teams and established businesses are all represented.

  • Can I see how it works before joining?

Absolutely! You can attend your first two meetings as a Visitor, and see the BNAA process in action. You’ll be able to mingle with Group members, and quickly appreciate how networking the ‘BNAA way’ can help your business tremendously.

  • Do I need to bring anything to a meeting?

All you need to bring is the following:

    • A 60 second ‘elevator pitch’ about your business – just a quick description of who you are, and what your business does;
    • A stack of 50 business cards (these will get passed around to members during the meeting);
    • A current flyer or offer you’re running, that members might be interested in.

We’ll provide the rest – something to eat, pen and paper for notes, and a friendly group!

  • How often do you meet?

Each Group meets once every two weeks. Please check the Group you’d like to join, to see which day and time they meet.

  • What do I get as a Member?

You’ll get access to a fantastic network of like-minded business professionals, and the opportunity to educate your fellow Group members about your business.

What our Members are saying

Hear directly from the people growing their businesses through BNAA. These are real stories from local professionals who’ve found support, referrals and results through their group connections.

  • The more you interact, the more you get out of it!

Having been a member of the BNAA group since 2017, I can only speak highly of the engagement you receive as a member.

This includes referrals from other members, as well as the ability to bounce around business ideas and get feedback on just about anything!

Plus the more you interact with the group, the more you get out of being a part of it.

  • I can't speak highly enough about the benefit BNAA brings to my business and my clients.

I have been a member since I returned to the family consulting business ‘full time’ last year, and I can’t speak highly enough about the benefit BNAA brings to my business and my clients. It is the key to my early success in securing wide recognition in the market place and to sustainable growth in revenue. Tasmania’s business community is built on relationships and it is through ‘qualified referrals’ that businesses can quickly grow and BNAA provides a professional environment for this to take place.

BNAA is more than just a group of business owners meeting fortnightly to chat and discuss business. It is a structured program with high quality tracking tools for ROI that not only grows your business network, it provides a community of fantastic business leaders where knowledge sharing and constant learning in its structured program supports business development. Seeing the early gains I jumped early and secured my Business in two groups, Devonport and Launceston.

  • Helped my business to grow exponentially!

I joined BNAA in August 2022 and have found incredible value in being a part of this group. Not only with referrals received, which have absolutely helped my business to grow exponentially, but also as a place to meet like-minded small business owners/managers.

As a sole trader, it is great to have an opportunity to discuss your business with others, and the level of support I have received from those within the group is something you can’t put a dollar value on.

I would thoroughly recommend BNAA to anyone that is looking to increase their business network, get their name out there within the local community, meet people and/or increase their customer base. It really is a fantastic resource.

  • Gave us an instant network of genuine, supportive business owners!

Joining BNAA was one of the best decisions we made after moving to Tasmania and buying our business. We didn’t know anyone when we arrived, and being part of BNAA gave us an instant network of genuine, supportive business owners. It helped us find our feet, build connections, and feel part of the local business community from the start. The relationships we’ve built through BNAA have been invaluable as we’ve grown and evolved our business.

  • A no-brainer, really!

I began with BNAA in December 2013 not long after it started as a relative early adopter of the benefits of engaging with fellow business people. A no-brainer, really. I have seen the evolution of this Launceston group where ‘fresh injections’ of new members coming from diverse spots in their career trajectories ensure my interest is sustained.

From start-ups to established concerns – there are invariably people we’ve heard of but never met so the networking opportunity continues as it did for me from Day 1. We are all busy – but testament to the value of this group is my ongoing attendance!
